NIRA RAVALIYA

CIBTAC & CIDESCO Lecturer

What courses do you teach here at LSBM?

I teach the CIBTAC and CIDESCO courses here at the school.

What is your area of Expertise?

My passion is skincare and facials, I like to relay all the tips and tricks that I have learnt in the industry to my students. I have also been brand trained with Environ, Guinot, Gatineau, Phytomer, Caci, Lycon, Dermalogica and MD Formulations.

What inspired you to go into education and teach at LSBM?

I have always wanted to teach, sharing skills, tips and tricks is my passion. I feel like I have had a blessed career being able to work in so many salons, spa's and be trained with a variety of brands - I wanted to pass all this knowledge on. I also think that still working in my mum's salon on a Saturday helps me with my teaching as it keeps my passion high; the industry is always changing, so to keep a foot in both worlds keeps me at the top of my game.

What qualifications do you hold and where did you study?

I just love the industry as a whole, so I have done quite a few courses! I originally studied my VTCT Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy qualifications before moving on to study High Fashion and Media Make-up.

I then went on to study hairdressing at Vidal Sassoon to compliment my make-up skills before going out to work in the industry as a therapist. While working I become very interested in Reiki so decided to find a tutor who could mentor me privately, which was brilliant as I learnt so much on a 1 to 1 basis.

After working with many brands and salons in the industry I decided I wanted to get into teaching, so I studied my teaching qualifications and got a job here at the school. I was initially a Level 2 tutor and was undertaking my CIDESCO upgrade Diploma alongside tutoring. I eventually moved on to teach CIDESCO and CIBTAC once a place opened up and I couldn't be happier!

The latest course that I did was in microblading, and it is honestly incredible. The results last for around a year and are amazing! It makes such a difference to your brows, and it can look as natural as you like.

What are your career highlights?

Working with Gwen Stefani's dancers for the 'Hollaback Girl' music video, that was a great job! I also work in my mum's salon on a Saturday which I love, as I get to give something back to her and have my regular Saturday clients which is nice. My mum is the one who inspired me to go into Beauty in the first place and she actually studied here at The London School of Beauty and Make-up nearly 20 years ago now! So it is lovely to be teaching where my mum once studied.

What is your Beauty Motto?

I'm a big believer in that if you have great skincare, you won't really need a lot of make-up. Nothing beats beautiful skin.
