Carla Levy

Freelance Make-up Lecturer

What do you teach here at the school?

I oversee the day to day running of the department and I also teach the MASA Make-up courses. I'm in charge of liaising with industry and fashion week designers to get our students work experience during and after their course.

What is your area of expertise?

Fashion and beauty for moving image and print. Whether it is an authentic Gatsby music video or a tribal influenced high fashion editorial, I particularly enjoy designing looks that have a historical and cultural reference.

What have been your career highlights?

I have had the opportunity to work within vast areas of the industry, both in the UK and Internationally for clients such as Vogue, Hunger Magazine, Harrods, Lancôme, Ted Baker, QVC, London Fashion Week, ITV and SKY. I appreciate the diversity of this profession as well as being fortunate enough to collaborate with significant photographers, designers, directors and production companies who continue to inspire me as a make-up artist and educator.

What made you decide to go into education?

I always knew I wanted to lecture in my field and when the opportunity presented itself, I took it without any hesitation! Having over a decade of experience in the industry, education seemed like a natural transition and I find great pleasure in sharing my knowledge and mentoring the next generation of make-up artists here at LSBM.

What is your make-up motto?

Make-up has the power to create tells a story, evokes emotion and inspires the imagination through a combination of colours, shapes and textures!
