Jo Harris

General Manager

A little about Jo...

As a self-developed and passionate therapist, I have loved all things beauty from a young age. I surrounded myself with products and did treatments on family and friends from made-up concoctions in the kitchen - I had discovered my passion. At the age of 16, I enrolled at Bexley College in Kent to study Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy 3 year CIBTAC and CIDESCO qualifications.

At 18, I secured a therapist position at The Dorchester Spatisserie, focusing on men’s Grooming. A fast paced and respected salon where I was exposed very early on to a variety of high profile clients and the world of luxury.

Following this I held positions with the Regis group, Fortnum and Mason and Rowhill Grange Spa, joining the Urban Retreat group at Harvey Nichols in 1997 where I started as a therapist progressing to GM of the prestigious Harrods site.

My current role as General Manager of the LSBM is a new a new and exciting role, allowing me to follow my passion into education, striving to improve standards and produce high calibre graduates into the industry. For me, it is now about giving my experience and knowledge to this very important sector and putting something back.

What do you think makes a great therapist?

Passion - you have to absolutely want to treat people, care for them and understand what they need.

What do you enjoy the most about the industry?

The diversity, and the fast pace that the industry is moving at in the spa and wellness area.

What is your favourite treatment to have and why?

Reflexology - I love my feet being massaged, primarily it is super relaxing and a forgotten part of the body that takes all of our pressure, and secondly that it works and can aid relaxation for other parts of the body. You get 2 treatments in one.

What do you think is the most innovative beauty treatment/product to launch in recent years?

Brows and lashes are still taking the industry by storm, and 2016 saw the hype in micro blading proving that we are not done with these impactful areas just yet.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Horse riding with my husband and kids, I love the freedom of being out in the fresh air whatever the weather.
