Beauty therapy can open doors to allow you to step into the independent business owner you are meant to be. That’s exactly what it did for Ewoma, opening her own aesthetics treatment clinic gave her full independence and the freedom to run her own schedule and build her own clientele which has led her to be one of the most respected aestheticians in the UK.
Dr Ewoma Ukeleghe is the founder of SKNDOCTOR, an aesthetics clinic based in Soho, Central London. She studied a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the renowned University of Liverpool Medical School. She is a doctor and decided to open up her own clinic after feeling dissatisfied with her medical career and wanted to pursue a career in aesthetic medicine having her own clientele at her clinic.
Ewoma decided to study at the London School of Beauty and Makeup (LSBM) to expand her knowledge and to learn about facial skincare treatments by taking our VTCT Level 2 Massage and Skin Care course in Autumn 2018.
She said “I decided to study at the London School of Beauty and Makeup because I was really drawn to the fact that the school has a really good reputation. It has a central location [in the city] and a real emphasis on practical teaching and then the development into working.”
“I loved that the course was super practical and that right from week 2, we were able to start practising on each other. I also particularly loved the smaller, intimate class sizes so that way we got the right amount of attention in order to progress through the course. I also loved how the school had an on-site spa to practice on paying clients and that really helped to boost my confidence”
On what made her want to go into a career working in aesthetic treatments, she explained how she had suffered from acne as a teenager and developed a love for skincare which allowed her to give advice to her friends and colleagues. Alongside this, she worked as a doctor and became disillusioned with the professional and decided to go into a different medical field with something that aligned more with her passions to create the perfect career for her.
At her clinic SKNDOCTOR located in Soho, Central London, Dr Ewoma offers injectables (brow lifts, cheek fillers, micro needling, medical facials, skincare solutions for skin issues such as hyperpigmentation, acne, scarring, redness/rosacea, oily skin and sparse lashes/brows.
If you are thinking of venturing into a new field from your current career, we can offer you a course that allows you to explore a new avenue on your employment journey to pursue a professional career in the beauty therapy industry.
On what she would advise those who are interested in applying to take a course at the London School of Beauty and Make-up, she says “I would say go for it, you won’t regret the decision at all. It is definitely an investment but it’s clearly an investment that has paid off for me. I absolutely loved the support from the staff at LSBM, they were always on hand to help me or to even answer any queries that I had and I never felt that I was bothering them. At LSBM, I learnt how to feel confident in the skills of going through a facial routine, and I feel that now translates into how I interact with my clients and I feel more reassured in what I’m doing.”
