After weeks of renovations, we are happy to let you know that the LSBM beauty salon has opened its doors again.
The London School of Beauty and Makeup is the only school in London to have its very own beauty salon on site. The beauty salon has nine treatment rooms, designated areas for manicures and pedicures and spa facilities.
Level 3 Award in Spa Treatments students will be able to work in the beauty salon 4 weeks into their course two days a week.
LSBM beauty salon has a fully equipped on-site spa which includes relaxation beds, steam room, sauna, hydro-bath, Vichy shower and scrub tables to provide you with the very best working environment to master the art of these treatments. Once you have gained full competency with these treatments you will provide them to paying clients in the LSBM Salon & Spa, overseen by qualified lecturers and our professional beauty salon team.
When students have passed their assessments, they are able to work in the on-site salon to gain invaluable experience in mastering what they have learned in class.
We believe that it is important that our students feel fully confident in their abilities before they leave us and venture into the working world.
Here is a Q&A with the salon manager, Charlotte Whiting-Searle discussing what students can expect out of their placement in the LSBM salon.
Do all beauty therapy students work in the salon and how long are they on salon placement?
All of our students taking beauty courses are offered the chance to work in the beauty salon. Depending on the course length, the time in the salon can range from 1 to 5 days a week, for several weeks.
What students can expect from their experience in the salon from your role as manager and why is salon experience so invaluable?
Working in the LSBM salon is a unique opportunity to gain some invaluable experience working with real clients in a working salon environment. The students are required to set up the treatment rooms and allocate treatments, work on reception taking bookings and payments, and of course, perform treatments on clients.
To have this opportunity to work with clients before working in a real salon or spa is very advantageous as it gives our students time to practice their new skills and gain confidence in interacting with clients.
What treatments do you offer at the salon?
We offer a wide variety of treatments in the salon including manicures, pedicures, hands-on and electrotherapy facials, body massage and electrotherapy body treatments, waxing, brow and lash treatments and scrubs and wraps. We also offer reflexology, Indian head massage and aromatherapy massage.
