Course description
A Level 4 Laser and IPL qualification is a highly sought-after credential in the beauty and aesthetic industry.
Throughout the course, students will learn and master hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments on salon-grade laser machines.
Students can complete the course over 5 weeks, 1 day a week, or within 5 days as a Monday- Friday option.
As an advanced aesthetic course and one of the most highly sought-after qualifications in the aesthetic and beauty industry, the Level 4 Laser and IPL qualification is one to have under your belt!
Since this is an advanced qualification, students are expected to come prepared for clinical practice days as the tutor advises and must strictly adhere to our guideline policy.
Underpinning Knowledge and Hair Removal:
- Core Knowledge of electromagnetic spectrum, photons, light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (LASER) and intense pulsed light (IPL).
- The difference between LASER and IPL light therapy and methods of applications for hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments.
- Recap of the anatomy and physiology of integumentary, endocrine, circulatory and lymphatic systems concerning light therapy treatments. (Please note that the Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification is a prerequisite to this unit)
- How to prepare and demonstrate LASER and IPL treatments, including preparation of the therapist, client, working area, full consultation, tissue analysis & Fitzpatrick scale, contraindications, aftercare advice, clinical outcome, clinical side effects, full treatment protocol, recording and evaluation of the treatment – all in compliance with LASER and IPL local rules and legislations procedure.
- How to perform hair removal treatments using IPL and LASER for all areas of the body; setting correct parameters for the hair type and colour on different skin types.
Skin Rejuvenation:
- Toning: Skin rejuvenation treatments that improve the appearance of all visible signs of ageing caused by sun damage, such as brown spots (pigmentation), redness (thread veins), uneven skin texture and lines and wrinkles.
- Pigment Removal: Pigmented lesions such as sun spots and freckles can be successfully removed to create a more flawless, youthful, and glowing appearance.
- Red Vein Removal: Long-term solution for facial problems such as Red Flushing (Rosacea), reducing Superficial Telangiectasia, and treating Spider Naevi and Campbell De Morgan spots (blood spots).
- Acne: Greatly reduces the number and severity of active lesions, lessening the inflammation (by speeding up the healing process) and the frequency of breakouts.
The assignments required to complete the course are as follows:
- Internal Test where students will demonstrate their knowledge of hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments.
- Written Assignments in which students will demonstrate their learned knowledge for each unit
- Learners must complete a minimum of 10 practical treatments to cover all the essential ranges for hair removal and 10 for skin rejuvenation.
- Tutor observations of practical assessments for hair removal, 3 for hair removal and 3 for skin rejuvenation.
On successful completion, you will receive the following globally recognised and accredited qualifications:

VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light Treatments.
- Students must be at least 18 years old to enrol on the Level 4 Laser course – no exceptions are accepted. We will also accept students who hold a relevant medical qualification.
- To enrol, you must possess a Level 2 Facial, Level 3 Facial and Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification. However, a Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy qualification is preferred.
- An excellent command of English is required, you must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently to undertake this course.
- International students must gain a ‘Standard Visitor Visa’ and pay this course’s relevant International Student Fee.

As this is an advanced qualification requiring heavy machinery handling, we keep our class sizes small. This is to ensure our students are kept safe throughout their training and to allow for individual attention and support from class tutors.

Only a 25% Deposit is required to secure your place on this course if the course start date is more than 1 calendar month away.
