A cosmetologist is an individual that performs personal care services such as massages, manicures, pedicures, makeup, facials and waxing.
They are responsible for evaluating clients’ skin, hair and nails whilst providing them with aftercare advice to take better care of themselves at home.
People included in the cosmetology sector are hairstylists, skincare specialists, beauty therapists, aestheticians and barbers.
Become well rounded in all aspects of beauty therapy on our beauty therapy courses we offer at the London School of Beauty and Makeup.
If you are looking to get into a career where you will get to make the most out of your beauty related talents then studying on our courses to become a cosmetologist is for you.
We teach from the very basic skills of beauty therapy on our courses to assist beauty therapists to progress further in their careers on our advanced courses.
The occupation of a beauty therapist consists in providing a number of beauty treatments to clients in either a beauty salon, concessions stand/kiosk or you can work on a freelance basis being a mobile therapist.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for carrying out manicures and pedicures.
These beauty courses are approved by VTCT which stands for the Vocational Teaching Charitable Trust.
For those who are complete beginners to the beauty therapy world, the Level 2 qualification will equip you with the knowledge to take on junior roles as a beauty therapist, nail technician, salon receptionist and spa therapist.
You can also go into becoming a beauty retail consultant and salon technician.
Below is a comprehensive list of modules you will learn throughout the course:
Students will also participate in our student salon* (LSBM Salon & Spa) once they have passed all assessments in class. Our salon is run by professional therapists and is open throughout the year, therefore we have a large client base for both our professional therapists and our student therapists.
*Although the ‘normal’ study hours are 10am–5pm, you will also be required to practice your treatments in our student salon at the end of your class time, the salon is Monday to Thursdays 11am-7pm.
The course costs £2,995 and runs for Monday to Friday for 12 weeks with the next intake starting on 28th January 2019.
From completing this course or if you are a beauty therapist who is looking to progress further in your career, you can take our Level 3 Beauty Therapy Diploma course, Level 4 Advanced Aesthetics course and Level 2 Facial Massage and Skin Care course which are all accredited by the VTCT.
You can study beauty therapy at our school located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of London. In close proximity to Barbican and Farringdon tube stations.
We are proud to be one of the most prestigious beauty educational institutions with our very own beauty salon on-site where the students have the opportunity to gain real salon life experience.
Our salon allows students to transition with ease into the real working world. They are guided by our fantastic tutors to make sure that they feel confident when giving treatments.
We are proud to say we provide a 5-star education to our students. Read below of what our students have to say about their time with us at the London School of Beauty and Makeup.
Twinkle Ladwa said “I completed my Level 2 in April and recently started my Level 3. I have really enjoyed my time in school, everyone is so helpful. I am so glad I have Alison and Jane as my mentor because they have always pushed me to do better even when things got too much for me to handle. Thank you!”
Sarah Vandersteen said “I recently completed the VTCT Level 2 Beauty Therapy course at LSBM and am already eagerly waiting to return in September for the Level 3 course.
My tutors, Alison and Jane, are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and patient. They invest so much of their time in preparing the theory and practical aspects of the course and do an amazing job at teaching a huge amount of information over an intense course. Alison and Jane teach with the highest standards and expectations in mind and ensure that only quality treatments take place in the classroom and salon. Not only have they shaped me as a beauty therapist through their role as tutors, they’ve shared an abundance of advice, support and industry experience to help me to acquire a job a week out of training with a leading spa company!
Lauren in the office is also super friendly and supportive getting to know each student on a first name basis and always happy to help. The ladies on the ground make this school an absolute success and I would recommend to anyone, even if just for the pleasure of being taught by such superb women!”
Kates Edwards said “I completed the full Level 2 Beauty Therapy taught by Alison and Jane who are the most incredible, patient and wise women and mentors! I absolutely loved my time there and have already signed up to Level 3 to continue my studies there! Such a welcoming environment and there are always people there to help and answer any questions you have (especially Lauren in the office! She’s an angel!) Looking forward to going back in September!”
